Gaelforce Sky Run
7th March 2020
The Gaelforce Sky Run is a mountain running event incorporating 3 distances to suit different levels of mountain running fitness and experience.
Set in the rugged wildness of the Maamturk mountains the event, which is now entering its 6th year, offers a 22KM or 13KM race on the open mountains, no trails, for more experienced runners and an 12KM trail/mountain race for those starting out in the sport.

Saint Patricks Day Parade

Ballyconneely Pony Show

Running for over 35 years Ballyconneely Pony Show is a great family day out, with lots to see and do.
Ballyconneely is a centre for the breeding of Connemara Ponies and there is great competition in the Pony classes.
If you have not brought your pony with you there is a dog show too.
Féile Mhic Dara
18-19 July 2020
Féile Mhic Dara or Saint Mac Dara’s Festival is a few days of tradition and fun which takes place in Carna on the coast of Connemara. Féile Mhic Dara is an age old tradition where local people and visitors alike make a pilgrimage off the coast of Carna to a small uninhabited island, St. Mac Dara’s island, to celebrate mass and to bless the boats. It is said to keep fishermen safe for the rest of the year. Nowadays, many events and festivities take place as part of the tradition with plenty of traditional music, sport, currach and hooker racing.

Clifden Arts Festival
Mid September 2020
The longest running community arts festival in Ireland, Clifden Community Arts Week, now in its 412nd year will take place in mid September and always promises to have something to excite everyone in the programme. Audiences can expect a very high quality artistic programme with a superb literary, musical and visual art content which will have the community arts of Clifden and the surrounding hinterland as a central focus with creative writing, music, theatre, graphic design and film workshops and performances taking place in the local schools for the duration of the festival.
