Inishbofin Island is a unique and beautiful Island. It is a truly peaceful place and once they have experienced itsBofin Island magical atmosphere visitors will return again and again. The Island is a perfect place for a family holiday and it is possible to be part of a lifestyle that is rare in a modern world.
The only way to access the Island is by ferry, which is a fast, large and modern craft that only takes about 30 minutes to cover the 10km from Cleggan harbour to the Island. The ferry crosses at least twice a day and the timetable is available here. Inishbofin is a popular destination with visitors as it has many walks, several stunning beaches and some great eateries. There is a population of about 160, many of whom make a living from fishing.

There is lots to do on the Island, there is an Equestrian Centre, a host of wildlife and birdlife can be seen from theinishbofin impressive cliffs on the north and west side of the Island. Whales and dolphins are regularly seen from the island there is a local pod of dolphins that are often seen and recently humpback whales have been spotted in the area. You are guaranteed to see some of the many seals that live around the Island. Corncrakes visit the Island and their distinctive call can be heard in May and June, you may even be lucky enough to spot one of these elusive and rare birds.
There is a small heritage museum which is very interesting. Music and Arts events take place throughout the year and there is also a walking festival. There is a surprising amount of choice for and evening out or a meal,The two bars, The Beach Bar and Murrays serve a great pint and food as well, and Inishbofin House Hotel and the Dolphin Hotel also serve food.
