Did you know that you can learn some really interesting new skills during your stay in Connemara?
Connemara Creative runs workshops in Printmaking, Batik, Feltmaking and Tapestry.
Connemara Creative is run by Bernie Dignam in Moyard between Letterfrack and Cleggan. Bernie is a local artist an teacher who has lived in Connemara for a long time, first moving full time to take up a position as a Product Design & Development consultant in the Furniture Technology Centre in 1997. By 2002, I was teaching Art & Design to adults at the Further Education Centre in Letterfrack where she still teaches part-time. She admits to being smitten by the landscape, the community and the way of life.
Inspiring workshops for ALL aspiring artists
Connemara Creative Workshops offers a diverse range of Art, Craft & Design workshops. The workshops are small with quality tuition for four to ten clients & are suitable for both beginners and seasoned artists. The studio overlooks a stunning view of the twelve Bens, with parking, wheelchair access, toilets and tea-making facility.
Tailored workshops can be delivered to groups of four or more on request. Clients will research, design and create at their own pace. They will produce unique pieces and will learn a new skill which they can take home with them. This a great way to spend a day ‘away from it all’ with like-minded people.

Print Making
Explore a variety of techniques in print making including mono-printing, stencilling, block printing, lino-cut, dry point, and experiment with printing found objects. Create your own unique prints or editions that can be later framed, given as gifts or a batch of your very own hand-made cards.

Felt Making
Explore the ancient craft of felt making, traditional wet felting offers an opportunity to play with colour & texture using wool and silk fibres to create your own unique pieces. Using the resist method you can create 3D pieces e.g. flowers or bowls.

Batik
Batik is a very creative medium offering the opportunity to create images on fabric by applying wax & dye to the fabric to create a unique piece of your own. Students can explore dipping and/or topical dyeing to create a pictorial piece on cloth which can be framed or sewn up later.

Tapestry weaving
The tapestry weaving involves planning & designing your sampler, selecting your materials for your warp and weft, setting up a loom, weaving and finishing a sample piece using a variety of techniques to create a unique piece. This workshops gives you enough to continue developing your skills at home.
