The Cottage: Cuilbeg, situated on the main Clifden to Claddaghduff Road, has stunning views of beautiful, sheltered Streamstown Bay, particularly at sunset. It is just the place to relax, take in the views and breathe the sweet Connemara air of the wild Atlantic Way. It is a traditional late 19th century cottage with a more modern bedroom extension set in an acre of land including a wooded copse and mountain stream. Cuilbeg is an ideal location for boating and fishing enthusiasts, walkers and cyclists, nature lovers and those who wish to sample the lively music, shopping and restaurants of nearby Clifden, the capital of Connemara, just five minutes’ drive away. To the west is ancient Omey Island across from Claddaghduff’s tidal strand. Beyond this, the magnificent Aughrus peninsula is perfect for cycling, bird watching and relaxing on safe, secluded white-sand beaches. Cuilbeg is a perfect a base for exploring glorious Connemara, from grand Killary to the soft coastal dunes of Roundstone and Ballyconneely, and upland to the imposing blue-beauty of the Twelve Bens to the east. What better place to get away from it all and refresh.

Inside: You enter the property onto an expansive gravel drive with ample parking – a great area for BBQs and boules around an evening firepit. To the left of the entrance foyer is the bedroom area containing two family and one double bedrooms, each with washbasins. Off the entrance foyer is a family shower room and toilet. To the right, in the original stone cottage, is an open plan kitchen-family room with sofas, and a huge landscape window offering magnificent views of Streamstown Bay and Boolard Island. A double sided solid fuel stove links this with a cosy, relaxing snug with leather chairs, TV and a neat window seat overlooking the bay. At the back of the house is a large utility space with washer/dryer and a modern bathroom with bath, shower and toilet. Outside are steps up to the small copse, from which the cottage derives its name, and beyond the open fields to the west of Cuilbeg.
