Clifden Arts Festival Returns with Anchor Theme and Spectacular Lineup
Clifden Arts Festival 2024 Runs From The 18th to 29th September
The Clifden Arts Festival was founded in 1977, due to the vision, passion and ambition of founder Brendan Flynn, his fellow committee members and the entire Clifden community. It was the longest running community arts festival in Ireland.
Originally Clifden Arts Week it began life as a week-long celebration of the arts for the children of Clifden Community School – helping to develop artistic and social skills, and provide an outlet for self-expression and development. Over the years Arts Week at the school gave such pleasure to the greater community that an encompassing and fervent support network grew around it, allowing it to develop.
The visual arts have been an important component of the Clifden Arts Festival. Connemara has a magnetic effect on
artists of all genres but particularly visual artists. Being immersed in the wild beauty of this place has inspired visual artists for centuries. This year you will again be inspired by The Arts Trail, featured in many windows around the town exhibiting the work of over 30 artists connected to Connemara, then there will be a Studio Trail Bus Tour immersing you in the Connemara Art Experience. There is also over 20 solo and group exhibitions at various venues around the area.
Add to that an impressive lineup of Musicians, Art exhibits, Theatre, historical events and poetry and you have the makings of an unmissable Festival.
