Sailing with Clifden Boat Club
Need something to keep the kids busy? Clifden Boat Club Sailing School may have the answer:
Clifden Boat Club has existed for over a hundred years. It has as its base a Clubhouse at the end of the beach road
right next to Clifden beach. This is a growing club that takes great pride in sharing the skills of sailing, introducing people new to the sport and improving learners skills.
Every year Clifden Boat Club runs sail training camps for young people. Irish Sailing Association training camps start at 8 years, and there are Young Pirates camps for children from 6 years of age aimed at getting them started and enthusiastic about sailing.
The Clifden Boat Club Sailing School first week of sail training camp has just ended and it was a great success. This is the first of eight weekly five-day sessions, but there is a lot more going on besides for all ages in the evenings and at weekends.
Adult sailing takes place on Mondays at 18.15 and Friday evenings at 17.30 there is sailing for youngsters that have done their courses and newbies as well.
There are also taster courses for those that are curious and Sunday racing for anyone who can sail, starting around lunchtime depending on tides. If you are interested in either of these you can just turn up or email the senior instructor Ellie. All our instructors are ISA qualified and are “Home Grown” having come up the ranks in Clifden.
If you would like to get your children started sailing or improve their existing skills you can check for availability on the booking site HERE.
