Corr Na Móna is a village in County Galway. The area is relatively undiscovered and it is surrounded by a unique and very beautiful landscape with mountains and huge lakes.  It is part of the Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking region) in Joyce Country.
The village lies on the north of Lough Corrib in the middle of the Joyce Country Mountain and Lake Districts. The lakes are popular among trout and salmon anglers, and the highlight of the angling year is the Mayfly hatch which takes place between the end of April and the end of May.
The eastern edge of the area comes down to the shores of the Corrib while the western edge borders the upland area of An Mám, the Maam Valley and the Maumturk Mountains.
There is a great variety of walks in this area and lots of information can be found Here

Nearby villages include  Cong, Clonbur and Maum, which are pretty rural villages and great places to visit while exploring the area. Cong features a great deal in the classic movie “The Quiet Man” as does the Ashford Castle Hotel. The Hotel serves the most superb afternoon teas, but be warned they are a little pricey!

The nearby Lakes, Lough Corrib and Lough Mask have an ecology that is unique. These limestone lakes and produce good brown trout and salmon in season.
