A great walk in Connemara, along the famine road by the edge of the Killary to Leenane. We started at Rosroe pier and ended up in Leenane village, a very scenic and interesting walk of about 14k The road was built in during the famine to provide work. You need to have two cars to do this walk as it is a route rather than a circular walk. The route follows the edge of the Killary in the shadow of the majestic Mweelrea Mountains, and you can see the salmon and mussel farms and the beautiful Delphi Valley. A great way to spend a day, and end up in Gaynors or Hamiltons bar for a pint or two.
